Arena Replaces Sacked Klinsmann As New US Coach



Bruce Arena has been named as the United States new coach as replacement for Germany legend Jurgen Klinsmann, ‎who was sacked on Monday.

Arena's appointment represents his return for a second spell having led his country to the last eight at the 2002 FIFA World Cup in South Korea/Japan in addition to boasting the best win rate of any US manager, with 71 victories from his 130 games between 1998 and 2006.

The 65-year old will be leaving his current appointment as MLS Side LA Galaxy's head coach to take up the post after winning 5 MLS Cups with both LA Galaxy and DC United.

On his appointment, Bruce Arena said: "Any time you get the opportunity to coach the national team, it's an honour."

"I'm confident that we'll take the right steps forward to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia." he further added.

His first day in charge will be on the 1st of December with his first match scheduled to be a qualifier at home to Honduras on the 24th of March, 2017.‎
