Serbian world number one Novak Djokovic has crashed out of the ongoing Paris Masters after he suffered a shock defeat to Marin Cilic in the quarter-final thus handing world number two Andy Murray the chance to topple him at the summit.
Djokovic was beaten 6-4 7-6 (6-2) by Cilic, who had earlier lost all 14 meetings with the Serbian leaving the door open for Andy Murray, who has to win just one game to seal top spot in the men's rankings after he saw off Tomas Berdych 7-6 (11-9) 7-5 to setup a meeting with either Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga or Milos Raonic of Canada.
Novak Djokovic has spent a whooping 122 weeks as world number one but the latest setback hands Murray a fantastic chance to be the second-oldest player to debut at number one after the 30-year old John Newcombe in 1974.
