Czech Republic Beat France 3-2 To Claim Third Successive Fed Cup Title
Czech Republic sealed the 2016 Fed Cup totle at the weekend after their 3-2 win over hosts France in Strasbourg thus making it a third successive triumph after 2014 and 2015.
With scores at 1-1, France's World number 23, Carolina Garcia defeated world number 6 Karolina Pliskova of Czech Republic 6-3 3-6 6-3 to edge the home side ahead. Barbara Strycova however levelled by beating Alize Cornet 6-2 7-6 (7-4).
In the deciding match, Pliskova and Strycova beat Garcia and Kiki Mladenovic 7-5 7-5 to win the Czech's 5th title in 6 years. They have now won 10 titles, 5 of which were as Czechoslovakia.
