England Captain Rooney Wants Southgate As Permanent Manager

England and Manchester United captain Wayne

Rooney has drummed up support for Gareth Southgate to emerge as the Three Lions of England's permanent manager.

Southgate was on the sidelines for his second win in three games after his side thrashed rivals Scotland 3-0 to consolidate top spot in Group F of the FIFA 2018 World Cup Qualifiers (European Section).

On the issue of Gareth Southgate, Rooney was clearly vocal as he said: "He's done all he can and I'm sure he's the frontrunner."

"From my point of view, he's in pole position." he further added.

For Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate was asked to take temporary charge of the team for four games, which will end with Tuesday's friendly against Spain, after the unceremonious exit of Sam Allardyce following one game in charge.
