Father of the late Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) defender Izu Joseph, who was killed by soldiers in Bayelsa State on Sunday has cried out for justice.
Izu Joseph was shot at a restricted area by the Joint Task Force (JTF), who have been in a long-running battle with Niger Delta militants.
Speaking on the unfortunate incident, which led to the death of son, Izu's father, Azu Joseph, demanded for justice. In his words, he said: "My son came back home for holidays and went straight to the village, which is in Mahuda Local Government of Bayelsa State, only for him to be shot on his legs even after showing them his identity card as a player of 3SC football club of Ibadan."
"My first son broke the news to me. I am in Port Harcourt at the moment.
"Without proper investigation my son was killed. I demand justice on the death of my son, whose body is still in the mortuary." he further stated.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have since contacted the late player's family with their condolence message.
