Federation Cup: FC IfeanyiUbah Win Federation Cup Following Penalty Shootouts Victory‎ Over Nasarawa United

Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) big spenders FC IfeanyiUbah have won the 2016 Federation Cup after their penalty shoot-outs win over Nasarawa United at the ‎Teslim Balogun Stadium in what was the final match.

FC IfeanyiUbah were the better side but they were unable to break the Nasarawa United rearguard led by gaolkeeper Suraj Ayeleso, who was later named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) as both sides played out a goalless draw after 90 minutes leading to the dreaded penalty shootouts to decide the winner.‎

Only Nasarawa United defender Seun Sogbeso failed to convert his spot kick during the penalty shootouts thus handing FC IfeanyiUbah a 5-4 win on penalties to seal their Federation Cup triumph. The new Federation Cup ‎champions have now qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup by virtue of their victory.
