German Legend Klinsmann Sacked As United States Boss‎

Former Germany player and coach Jurgen Klinsmann has been sacked as the head coach of the United States after five years in charge of the team.

Klinsmann, who won the 1990 World Cup with Germany as a player and also led ‎the team to a third place finish on home soil at the 2006 World Cup, took over as the US head coach in 2011.

His exit was confirmed by the US soccer president Sunil Gulati, who said: "We remain confident we have quality players to help us advance to Russia 2‎018."‎‎‎

"But the form and growth of the team up to this point left us convinced that we need to go in a different direction." he further added.

Klinsmann led the team to the last 16 stage at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil after finishing above group favourites Portugal but his stock with the team dwindled following the 2-1 home loss to Mexico and the 4-0 away spanking against Costa Rica in their opening two qualifying matches for the 2018 tournament meaning that the United States are pointless and bottom of the six-country qualifying group, below the likes of Panama and Honduras with only two games played.
