Formula One: ‎Malaysian Grand Prix To Stop Hosting F1 In 2018‎

The Asian country of Malaysia will stop hosting the Formula One GP known as the Malaysian Grand Prix in Sepang as from 2018‎.

The race at the Sepang International Circuit has been a regular fixture on the formula one calender since 1999 but the current agreement expires in 2018.

Chief executive of the circuit, Razlan Razali, had earlier questioned the race's 'economic value' as he bemoaned the decline in ticket sales and TV viewing figures.

"From the longer term perspective, it's probably the correct decision because it's more expensive and no longer that attractive," said Nazri Abdul Aziz, who is Malaysia's culture and tourism minister.

Daniel Ricciardo of Australia and Red Bull won at Sepang in October however only 45,000 fans attended the 120,000-capacity circuit.
