Plane Carrying Players Of Brazilian Club‎ Chapecoense Crashes In Colombia



A plane carrying players of Brailian club Chapecoense FC has crashed on its way to Medellin international airport in Colombia, where they were scheduled to play the Copa Sudamerica finals‎ against Colombian side Atletico Nacional on Wednesday.

The unfortunate incident was confirmed on the Twitter account of Medellin international airport as it added that the aircraft carrying the players had departed from Bolivia.‎

It was further revealed by the Mayor of Medellin, Federico Gutierrez, who said that it is possible there are survivors. 

"It’s a tragedy of huge proportions.” Gutierrez told Blu Radio on his way to the crash site in a mountainous area outside the city adding that ambulances and rescuers were on their way. It is however not clear what caused the crash.‎
